What is an ETF?

Explanation of what an ETF is and info on Carbon Collective's first ETF CCSO.

What’s an ETF?

An ETF is short for exchange-traded fund, and is a type of security that’s traded on public exchanges, AKA the stock market. It’s kind of like a more contemporary version of a mutual fund.

ETFs are usually composed of one type of security, like stocks or bonds, and may track an index or sector of the stock market. In CCSO’s case, we’re tracking all the companies building solutions to climate change!

What is CCSO?

CCSO is our “ticker” or the four-to-five character designator for our ETF. It references the Carbon Collective Climate Solutions U.S. Equity ETF. Basically, it’s the stocks in the Climate Only portfolio, but now available to be invested in on the public exchanges (we’ll be on the NASDAQ).
